Special Announcement: Colorado Division of Real Estate
Clarification - Continuing Education
Requirements for Appraisers
The Colorado Division of Real Estate
and the Colorado Board of Real Estate Appraisers would like to clarify the
email sent on Monday, August 13, 2007 concerning continuing education for
appraisers.
Colorado appraisers are required to
complete at least 42 hours of continuing education during their 3-year renewal
cycle. Licensees are also required to complete the 7-hour USPAP Update Course every
other year in accordance with the qualification criteria of the
Appraiser Qualifications Board and the rules of the Colorado Board of Real
Estate Appraisers. If you are audited, you will need to submit proof that you
are compliant with this requirement. The 7-hour USPAP Update course(s) you
complete can be counted toward the 42-hour continuing education
requirement.
There are no restrictions on the number
of times licensees may take USPAP courses or programs for continuing education
credit. For example, licensees may take the 15-hour USPAP Course and the 7-hour
USPAP Update Course for credit every year. However, licensees must take the
7-hour USPAP Update Course at least every other year. The 15-hour USPAP Course
cannot substitute
for the 7-hour USPAP Update Course requirement.
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind
you to check your contact information on the Division's website. Board Rule 8.6
requires each holder of an unexpired license to inform the Board within ten
(10) days of any change of residence or business address. The Division's
website is
